“It is said that life is what happens to you while you make other projects and that is exactly what happened to Claudia, born in 1997.”
She was born in Alba from an Italian father and a Polish mother, she lived her first years in La Morra between sacrifices and debts due to the removal of her father. In those years she was lucky enough to spend her summers in the Polish countryside with her grandparents. Thanks to these experiences, she will be able to learn the language and be in contact with a different culture that will enrich her with different points of view.
In her early teens she enrolled in a technical school, then realizing that this was not the right path for her. She decides to leave everything and only two years later, by chance, she will find herself enrolled in a professional school where she will attend a clothing course.
At first she will be little interested in the world of tailoring, but life is always there to amaze us and one day her path crosses randomly with a photo of a dress.
That dress will be a turning point in her life and her career. That dress will instill in her the curiosity, tenacity and stubbornness necessary for all artisans: to create a product from nothing.
From that moment on, everything she had studied, such as the history of costume, the study of fabrics, the sketch, the cutting and packaging will magically take on a meaning.
Spurred on by this new desire to get to know and improve, she will be selected to take part in an internship at the Style Office of the well-known brand Oltre and she will also go abroad to participate in another project at Marco Pascali in Barcelona.
After graduating from the clothing school, she starts working at a shop specialized in wedding and formal dresses. In this context, she will have the opportunity to refine her tailoring techniques and enhance her experience in the world of sales.
At the end of 2019, at just 22, she managed to fulfill her greatest dream: opening her own business as a dressmaker with the idea, one day, of opening her own brand.
So in July 2020 after an intense period of work she designs, sews and creates her first collection: DUSCIA.
The choice of this name refers to the intention of representing and celebrating her Polish origins, calling each dress with the name of a city of Poland.
Given the great response received for the first collection, Claudia, decides to create the second collection that will see its birth in November 2020.
The latter takes the name of MEKA, the way she used to call her mother as a child, unable to pronounce the name Marzena.
Collection after collection, Claudia realizes how much a well-made dress can make her customers self-confident and gritty in dealing with everyday life. So she decides to make this concept the basic principle of her brand, combining it with the importance given by the value of craftsmanship and MADE IN ITALY.
“I love crazy experiments. I do them all the time.”
